The #minigatdigital is now open. Since the crew couldn't do a proper live GAT with meetings and exchanges, they did everything they could do with the given possibilities to set up a digital version as worthy as possible. During one of the most challenging years for the tattoo industry, San Francisco-based artist Filip Fabian keeps his chin up as his clients are eager to get tattooed by him. But due to COVID-19 lockdowns, he has to stay calm and wait for the Governor’s green light.

We speak with Fabian, born in Slovakia, who lived and worked as a tattooer in countries like England, Spain, Germany, and Australia—now stationed in San Francisco, where he received a prestigious invitation to perform at “Black + Blue Tattoo” studio, near the Castro and Mission District. And his wife was invited to study at the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Sophie Magdalena Scholl is not the best-known resistance fighter, but her story is a powerful one. She was a key member of the Weiße Rose (White Rose)—a resistance group run by students at the University of Munich who distributed leaflets and used graffiti to decry Nazi crimes and the political system, while calling for resistance to the Nazi state and the war...

The White Rose was a small endeavor with large consequences. At its core were siblings Hans and Sophie Scholl, their fellow students Alexander Schmorell, Willi Graf, Christoph Probst, and a professor of the University of Munich, Kurt Huber. Together they published and distributed six pamphlets, first typed on a typewriter, then multiplied via mimeograph against Nazi-Crime.

After a half-day trial led by the infamous Roland Freisler, president of the People’s Court, Hans, Sophie, and Christoph were sentenced to death for treason and were executed by guillotine on February 22, 1943.
